Lord Ash had arrived at the end of a roadway when he saw a gentleman approaching his group.
He signalled his guards to stand down so as to allow the fae’s approach. looking him over he knew him to be a noble.
Perhaps he was one of the royals? He thought to himself.
The man addressed him saying… “Just a moment. You Sir…are you lost?”
” Actually No. I am Lord Ash FlameWarden. I came to inquire of the fae for some assistance. I am also Fae but from another realm. I am a traveler of sorts but moreover I visit this world occasionally. Usually it’s just Bravvos, however my friend was not in residence a warlock who I have known for many years. I had thought to inquire of my own people as I am fae and I had no other allies in the realms. Magnus was my only contact and friend here. As you can see I brought only a light guard.”
he pointed towards the men he had with him.
” the rest of my guards are camped outside of the territory. It wouldnt do to bring an army into the castle. I wouldnt want any to think I planned a take over, yet i do not travel without the guardsmen of my land either. I am a King after all. ”
“I am Lord Ash FlameWarden. I came to inquire of the fae for some assistance. I am also Fae but from another realm. I am a traveler of sorts but moreover I visit this world occasionally.”
The Prince noted the presence of the man’s guards, and raised a brow, standing with arms folded, as he listened to the fae introduce himself, as Lord Ash FlameWarden. Though it was not unusual to have those send ambassadors from other realms, it was unusual to see the number of men with him. Curious about what this man would want with his realm, and the fact he was about to go visit with his mother the Queen, he came a blank when the man asked about one known as Magnus.
Lord Ash FlameWarden gestured with his hand to the light guard he brought with him, and Sirus acknowledged them with a simple nod of the head. The fae Lord had others at the perimeters, but had not brought them in due to the likelihood they would be viewed as some sort of invading army.
“Hmm, so you’re a King, eh?” Just then, a plan started to formulate itself within his mind, and Sirus smiled.
“Prince Sirus, son of Queen Arianna. I am sure you would be familiar with my mother, as you mentioned you have been here before. Tell you what. As I don’t know of this Magnus person you seek, shall I introduce you to the Queen, and perhaps the two of you can form some sort of alliance.” What he was really thinking was, if the Queen became smitten with Lord Ash, that she might forget about his need to find a wife. Talk about turning the tables.
“Just this way.” The prince gestured, to lead Lord Ash and his men to the Throne room.
Lord Ash watched the young man who said his name was Sirius introduce himself. He said he was a Prince of the Realm. He had already deduced he might be one of the royals but he listened to his words..
“Prince Sirus, son of Queen Arianna. I am sure you would be familiar with my mother, as you mentioned you have been here before. Tell you what. As I don’t know of this Magnus person you seek, shall I introduce you to the Queen, and perhaps the two of you can form some sort of alliance.”
Lord Ash had heard of his mother actually she was the one name he had heard of in the lands and had come to inquire of her as to what she might know, hoping their mutual connections both in being fae and royal blood might lend her to help him find his friend. He was glad to hear the Prince suggest it and amicable to the desire of the young man when he said..
“Just this way.”
Lord Ash responded by beginning to follow the young man.
“Sounds good to me. I had come to meet her in fact Sirius, I was told she is quite knowledgeable about the realms.”
Everantha was busy enjoying the company of her latest toy when a servant came in to inform her that the queen requested her presence. Sighing softly, she sank lower into the bubbles and frowned “Tell her I am coming as quickly as I can…” As the servant curtsied and hurried off to tell the queen, the princess snapped irritably “I wish.”
Thalion chuckled at her words and began to plant kisses on her neck. When he got to her ear, he nipped at her ear lobe while murmuring low “We could certainly make that happen…”
Ooh…she was so very tempted to take him up on that offer, but Eve hated to keep her mother waiting. Shaking her head, she brushed Thalion away with the flick of her hands and stood up. Bubbles dripped down her body sluggishly as she held her hand out for a towel. Thalion just chuckled briefly and stood up as well. Grabbing the towel, he climbed out of the tub and held it up for the princess. Once she was safely out, he wrapped her in it snugly and then scooped her up into his arms. Cradling her gently, he began to carry her over to the dresser.
Giggling wildly, she kicked her legs and slapped at his chest “I can walk, you know!”
The elf just shrugged before planting her firmly on her feet “Yes, but that doesn’t mean you have to, your grace.” The princess just rolled her eyes and picked out the dress she wanted to wear.
The Queen’s Chambers
Once Eve was dressed accordingly in golden gown with her hair falling around in loose waves underneath her crown of thorns, she was then escorted by Thalion to her mother’s chambers. Arriving at the door, she turned to the elf with a slight smile “That will be all.”
Thalion held her hand in his before raising it to his lips. Planting a tender kiss on her hand, he murmured against her skin“Should you need me…just call on the wind.” With that, the elf straightened up and walked away.
The princess watched him leave for a moment, her heart beating rapidly. That man was doing wonders on her, but she would never settle for a servant. She needed a man to make an honest woman out of her, not bend to her every will. Spinning around, she waited for the servants to announce her.
The servants opened the door as one called into the chambers “Announcing Princess Everantha Laegess into the Royal Majesty’s Chambers.”
Grimacing at her name once more, she just offered a sarcastic smile to the servants while waiting for her mother to call her in.

Arianna glanced up from some parchments she was going over when her daughter was announced.
“Please, send her in.” she requested, dismissing her advisors with a wave of her hand.
Everantha walked in quietly as the advisers were dismissed. Standing before her mother, she curtsied briefly before straightening up again. Smoothing down her dress, she smiled pleasantly as her hands folded in front of her “You wished to speak with me, mother?”
Despite her up and down relationship with her brother, the princess had a deep respect and affection for her mother. Arianna was so majestic, so peaceful that it was hard not to adore her. As she waited for her mother to speak, she glanced at the parchments curiously but did not question her yet. Such a thing was rude to do before the queen.
“Announcing Prince Sirus Laegess into the Royal Majesty’s Chambers.” The doors opened a second time, and this time the Prince would make his entrance, along with the strange foreigner and his guards. Strolling along the stone floor, he could see that Everantha had already been summoned and actually got their first. A rare treat indeed. The Prince could not hide his smug expression, and bowed elegantly before the Queen, before stating.
“I believe you wished my attendance also, Mother, but I have brought with me a traveler who seeks a dear friend in this realm. Perhaps you can assist him in his endeavors. Sirus said, gesturing with his hand to the man, who was Fae King of a far off realm. Looking back at Lord Ash, the Prince said. “May I introduce my mother, Arianna and my sister Everantha.” The Prince having done his duty, stepped back and allowed the meeting to continue without interruptions.
Arianna smiled as her daughter stepped into the room. As always, Arianna was hit with a pang of longing as she stared at Eve. She looked so much like her father, it nearly broke her heart.
“You wished to speak with me, mother?” Eve asked.
“Yes, I was wondering-” Arianna managed to say before her son was announced into her chambers. She looked over to see Sirus stroll in with a stranger and a cavalcade of guards with him. She frowned, displeased.
“I believe you wished my attendance also, Mother, but I have brought with me a traveler who seeks a dear friend in this realm. Perhaps you can assist him in his endeavors.”
Arianna got to her feet and pulled Sirus aside, anger in every line of her body. It was a rare thing when Arianna was angry as she was such a gentile woman. “Sirus…you dishonor me greatly by bringing these men into my personal quarters. And armed at that. What were you thinking?” she wondered at first, but continued on before he could reply. “Nevermind. I don’t wish to know.” She turned toward the stranger. “I would love to hear why you have come to my kingdom, My Lord, but I have need to speak to my children first. If you would follow my lady’s maid, she will show you where you may rest and replenish your pallets.” She indicated Tempest, who had been standing off to the side, silent as a shadow. She stepped forward and bowed.
“If My Lords would come this way, please?” Tempest stated in a soft voice, leading the way to the dining hall.

Lord Ash followed behind Sirius to his expected audience with the queen expecting to be led to the throne room. Instead he was led to her personal Chamber’s and while they were still armed. He had at least made sure their weapons were sheathed but there was nothing more he could do. He had not been told they were being taken to her personal chambers. He was surprised that they allowed such in this kingdom as he was a stranger in this land. However he did not want to be rude either.
The Queen said “Sirus…you dishonor me greatly by bringing these men into my personal quarters. And armed at that. What were you thinking?” Nevermind. I don’t wish to know.” She turned toward the stranger. “I would love to hear why you have come to my kingdom, My Lord, but I have need to speak to my children first. If you would follow my lady’s maid, she will show you where you may rest and replenish your pallets.”
Ash was mortified not knowing what to say he was glad to hear the maid say,
“If My Lords would come this way, please?”
As Lord Ash and his party were led away by Tempest, Sirus whistled and rocked back and forth, back and forth. His Mother was ropeable, and why wouldn’t she be? It was her chambers after all. He glanced at his sister, and then said. “Bet your enjoying this.”Seeing her big brother getting racked over the coals by his mother in company.
“And here I was thinking how nice it would be for Mum to make a new friend, a King too. AND a fae. Men like that don’t grow on trees you know.” He knew he was in deep shit, and he thought, when its raining spades, dig a bigger hole.
“I take it that this “Meeting” here is super important. You could have used the throne room. It’s where there are…those things called thrones. Not…let’s sit on Mummy’s bed and be told how we are going to be spending the next five hundred years or so with someone we don’t love….”
“I did not call you here to argue. I wanted to talk to the two of you and get your opinions on the Lady Tempest. Is she behaving herself with the other servants? I want your honesty about your observations of her. There’s something about her…I can’t put my finger on it…” Arianna trailed off in thought. “I just want reassurance that she’s done nothing to bring harm to our people.
She sat back in her seat and waited.
Eve offered another smile and was about to listen to what her mother had to say when her brother was announced. Turning to look at him, she raised an eyebrow in surprise to see that he had a guest with him. To their mother’s personal chambers…Had he completely gone mad? The princess stood there shocked at her brother’s stupidity, looking between queen and prince as they spoke. As always, her mother remained calm, even in her anger. Sirius…not so much. As the mysterious man was led from the room by Tempest, Eve gave the princess in disguise a small smile before turning to Sirius. Her eyes were as black as coals.
With the room soon emptied of everyone other than royals, she stalked towards her brother with rage brewing behind her eyes. Her mother’s soothing voice spoke behind her, and it reminded Everantha of her station. Standing in front of Sirius, the princess didn’t care that she was shorter than him. Staring up into his eyes, she spoke in a deadly quiet voice “Am I enjoying this? Enjoying what, hmm? You throwing a tantrum in front of the woman who is raising you to be our next king because you dare bring a stranger into her own personal chambers? What if he was sent to murder her! You could be responsible for the death of your own mother and the kingdom’s queen! Have you no ounce of honor or maturity in you at all? Or was your brain recently trampled on by one of your precious steeds?” Taking a deep breath to calm herself as her mother did, she then spoke in a more composed tone “You bring dishonor to this family by spitting in the face of those that wish to help you become the best of what you are meant to be. Grow up, this kingdom will soon be your responsibility. If I so much as doubt you or your abilities to rule my home with the proper respect and dignity it deserves, you will regret it, brother.” She spat out the last word and turned away from him.
Walking back towards her mother, her hands were shaking with rage at the idea that her brother was taking this so lightly. It was not just some petty conversation between siblings. He brought a stranger to his mother’s room, spoke disrespectfully towards their mother, and then expected the princess to gloat about it as though they were in a pissing contest. The nerve and stupidity of the young. Folding her hands in front of her, she looked at her mother silently. Arianna questioned them about Tempest. The girl who lied to the princess. But was it a dangerous lie? Eve herself still did not know. Choosing to play her cards close to her chest, she just smiled slightly “The girl seems to be quite mysterious…we know that she comes from a troubled family. Will that cause trouble for our own? I wonder…” Looking at her brother from the corner of her eye, she began to smirk “I ought to write Princess Selene about this. She really knows how to welcome the weak and wounded with open arms.”
There comes a time in a man’s life when the constant fighting for the right to even breathe independently, against the head strong women of his family is simply too much. He made a mistake to bring the Lord Ash into his Mother’s chambers, but as soon as Eve decided to play the “you bring dishonor to the family” for said mistake….that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. His chest rose and fell sharply, as his eyes drilled his sister’s for her impertinent and bossy outburst. Now he didn’t know who was worst, his Mother or his sister. Eve even brought his horses into the equation.
Staring daggers at his sister, he leaned forward and sniffed her, saying with a dark expression. “I ride my horses, YOU ride the entire house staff in your wing.” No longer caring anymore about family, the crown, the charge in his care, the Prince takes his lapel and tears off the family crest.
“No wonder my Father is dead. Probably killed himself, rather than have to put up with being a King in such a fucked up realm, where the women wear the pants. I’m done. Go get pregnant to one of your squires, Eve, and produce the next heir. I am sure you can manage that much.” Angrily he turned on his heel, and as he strolled out, he gave one last parting shot.
“You think its bad I brought a fae King into your quarters. How about saddling me up with a fucking demon from a realm with enough fire power to wipe us off the face of the world and be home in time for tea. GOOD DAY!”
Arianna felt a headache coming on as her spitfire of a daughter dressed down her wayward son in one of the most spectacular displays of temper Arianna had ever seen. Definitely her father’s daughter that one.
After turning back to her mother to tell her about Tempest, Sirus spoke out in anger and Arianna wanted to throw her hands up.
“I ride my horses, YOU ride the entire house staff in your wing.”
Arianna’s eyes widened in shocked surprise and she turned her gaze upon Eve.
“Everantha!” Arianna exclaimed, scandalized. But she could go no further as Sirus turned his ire upon his own mother.
“No wonder my Father is dead. Probably killed himself, rather than have to put up with being a King in such a fucked up realm, where the women wear the pants. I’m done. Go get pregnant to one of your squires, Eve, and produce the next heir. I am sure you can manage that much.”
Arianna sat back in her seat, stunned at the force of his anger. Her heart, already a fragile thing because of the death of her husband, shattered even more as she listened to her son’s words. He turned and stode to the door, before deciding on a parting shot.
“You think its bad I brought a fae King into your quarters. How about saddling me up with a fucking demon from a realm with enough fire power to wipe us off the face of the world and be home in time for tea. GOOD DAY!”
He tore the family crest from his robes and tossed it at her feet.
The slam of the door echoed long and loud as Arianna slumped weakly in her chair.
“What have I done?” she murmured, tears stinging her eyes.
Hallway Outside the Queen’s Chambers
Unbeknownst to everyone, Tempest had been returning to the Queen’s side when she heard the argument erupt and she stood in shock as the Prince effectively outted her to anyone who was within hearing distance. When he stomped out his mother’s rooms, she was standing there, shock and fear battling fiercely upon her face.
“What did you do? You promised you wouldn’t say anything!” she whispered. “Do you know what you’ve done?” Tempest felt her breath hitch in her chest as an overwhelming sense of despair flowed through her. She needed to leave. She was no longer safe. A sob escaped her throat before she could stop it and taking up her skirts, she turned and fled, not caring if anyone followed.
Once she reached the empty courtyard, she let her wings free and launched herself into the air, heading toward the dark mountains she could see in the distance. They looked dangerous and ominous, but at the moment, she was too hurt to care.
Arianna had to struggle fiercely to compose herself, knowing she still needed to speak with the Fae King that had come to see her. She made her way to the throne room and sat upon it, Sirus’s family crest clutched tightly in her hand as if she could will him to return to her side. She had understood his words at the end and wasn’t that a kick in the teeth to not know she was harboring a Princess from the Nightlands in her home. That was another issue that would be dealt with as soon as she was able.
But for now, business as usual. She sent a servant to the dining hall to bring the King and his party to face her.

Everantha stood there as her brother fought back with another tantrum, despite the fact that the princess already chastised him for already throwing one. He was only further proving her point that he had not reached an impressive level of maturity yet and was unfit to rule anything if he was just going to throw around hurtful words and storm away from his problems. Seeing him run away like that made her thoroughly disgusted and her nostrils flared as if a revolting stench surrounded her brother. He would never be fit to rule the kingdom in her eyes now.
The way he spoke to their mother, and the way he brought her father into this, made her want to tear his dick off and force him to eat it. But, ever the calm princess she was, Eve instead just watched her brother tear his family crest off with a cold smirk. Surely her home was as good as hers to rule. Now all she needed was the proper puppet to marry.
As her mother slumped in her seat, her body shook with rage for what her brother had just done to their mother. However, she knew he was angry and to go after him with more sharp words would only make her mother even more grieved. Sighing softly, she spoke quietly to her mother “Give him time to cool off. I was too hard on our young prince.” With that, she picked up her skirts and curtsied politely. Turning away, she left her mother to deal with her thoughts and feelings in peace. She had her own plans to work on, and she was going to help Tempest in the midst of it all.

Everything felt wrong. But there was one thing that the Prince felt in the midst of it all. Relief. No longer having to shoulder the burden of his title, no longer being ordered her to marry and why. No longer having to put up with his sister’s catty behaviour. To the Prince, the world was a big place, and with his skill and abilities, he would surely do well outside of their realm. His outing of Tempest was not something he was proud of, but he could tell by his Sister’s wording that she already knew, and was playing her cards out to suit her own ends. Again with the manipulation and mistrust. That was not how families should be. For a long time, he had itchy feet, and now, he was going to go and pack a kit bag, and go off on his own, and make his own fortune, without the family crest hanging over his head.
Thalion had vanished high up in the castle halls, so high that no one would be able to find him or sense him. It was one of his gifts that had made him such a valuable warrior, the ability to hide himself so thoroughly. He needed to be hidden at the moment as he opened his senses, listening to the conversation behind the close doors. His lips curved when her brother decided to bring a stranger into the queens chamber, and the reaction from each of them. He smirked with the princesses reaction. Oh how sharp witted that young girl was, oddly attractive but only just so. He had plans for that princess, and letting his desires over ride his plans. His plans were the most important thing and the moment that his plan finally fell through. Everything would be right once again. His gaze narrowed below as he saw the princess exit the chamber, but instead of dropping down to intercept he only watched her.
Everantha came strolling out of her mother’s chambers, an agitated look on her face as she walked. She couldn’t believe her brother’s insolence towards their mother. Had he learned nothing as a royal? The prince clearly did not understand how to play his cards close, and what and when was the right move. With his short temper and spoiled attitude, he would surely bring down her home fast. This she could not have. Her flock of ladies-in-waiting and other various servants that were so eager to assist her came rushing forward to follow her. They were never far behind and were waiting outside the Queen’s chambers until their princess returned. Now that she was seen in the castle halls, they hastily followed behind her. After a few moments of walking, she turned to look at her closest lady with a tight frown “Where is Thalion? I need him to fetch me our guest.”
The poor lady-in-waiting had seen Tempest fly off, and she was terrified to tell the princess so. All the servants in the princess’s horde had seen her flee from the hallway and could see through the windows that she had flown away. This was very bad news, and no one wanted to share it with Eve. Unfortunately, the princess did not like to be kept waiting. As her eyes narrowed, they all sensed she would start bitching if no one spoke. Finally the blonde lady she had addressed spoke quietly “Your grace, the princess is no longer here…”
Pausing in her tracks, she turned slowly to ask “And where is she now?”
Swallowing hard, the lady squeaked “I believe she is going to the mountains…”
Rage once more flickered within her coal black eyes. That damned Sirius had to ruin everyone’s life with his tantrums! Gritting her teeth to keep her composure, she drew her shoulders back. Reaching up to adjust her crown, she snapped “Bring me Thalion. Now.”
Thalion smirked as he watched the princess turn to her lady in waiting and ask for him and the princess. But from what he saw earlier the princess had already left probably heading for the mountains. He saw how the ladies reacted to the princess, since it seemed as if she was in a mood. He chuckled when she turned to the girl, it was like a snake cornering a mouse. It was rather amusing to watch, and so expected from the princess. She didn’t like it when things didn’t go her way, if only she knew how much things were going to change when he took control of everything. Ah the look on her face will be priceless, absolutely priceless. Deciding it was time to give the poor lady in waiting mercy, he slowly stood from his perch as he took a step off of it. He fell down onto the ground, right in front of the princess. His sudden and abrupt appearance caused all the ladies in waiting to scream in shock, he knelt in front of the princess. “Your highness, you requested me?” he asked, his hand over his heart as he knelt waiting for her orders. Ever the faithful servant he was.
Lord Ash had heard quite a bit of commotion sitting in the dining hall with his guard. He had wondered whether he should leave if he had just come at a bad time, when a servant finally arrived saying he should follow him to the actual throne room.
Taking care to follow proper etiquette he and the guards layed their weapons near the entryway to the Throne Room to show the proper respect of court. He had his own power anyways and he did not come hear to disrespect anyone, but to seek information. Had he come to pursue war he would have come in a much different manner. As he made his way forward he bowed quietly respect.
” You are the Lady Arianna, I take it? I am Ash Flamewarden Of Ysgard. It is nice to finally meet you. I had come to ask if you might have any word concerning a warlock named Magnus of Bravvos. He has disappeared recently and was one of my only contacts in the realms. I being fae had heard of your realm and that your house had honor so thought to ask of you what you might know. I have no allies here to speak of yet my own standing army. I know a paradox. “
he grinned widely.

“Announcing His Royal Highness, King Flamewarden Of Ysgar” The page stated in a loud and clear voice. Arianna, who had been slumped upon her throne, heaped in sadness over the departer of her son, sat up straighter and wiped the emotions from her face. Now was not the time to dwell on the demise of the relationship between her and Sirus. She still had a kingdom to run.
The man who’d come to see her strode into the room, stopping at the base of the Throne and bowed in respect, his guards following in his stead.
“You are the Lady Arianna, I take it? I am Ash Flamewarden Of Ysgard. It is nice to finally meet you. I had come to ask if you might have any word concerning a warlock named Magnus of Bravvos. He has disappeared recently and was one of my only contacts in the realms. I being fae had heard of your realm and that your house had honor so thought to ask of you what you might know. I have no allies here to speak of yet my own standing army. I know a paradox. “
“It is an honor to have you here, My Lord. I apologize for my rudeness earlier. It is not often my children surprise me in such a way. I hope our food met with your satisfaction.” she stated, nodding her head. “You say you are looking for a warlock? I have heard of such a person…but last I knew, he was traveling to the Nightlands at the request of King Brandon of the House of Brax.” She told him. “If that is the man you seek, that is where he shall be, but I must ask. Why are you searching for him?” She tilted her head in curiosity.
Lord Ash looked at the lady for a moment. not knowing quite what to say. She was alarming beautiful and she had the information he sought and gave it freely. An honest soul for certes. She even spoke of her children and apologized to him as if she owed him an apology. She had just served both him and his men food after that whole blunder in the beginning. He was glad for the second chance at even getting to hold speech with her not that he and his men were to blame either. However he should have expected when they were being led to private quarters. He knew better he had been raised among the eldest of the fae.
Well Magnus is an old friend of mine. He had asked a boon and I had returned from a journey to tell him of my success in finding what he sought also I needed his assistance myself. He is unique among his kind. Like myself he has special talents. I am a traveler of realms m’lady. So I can find many things. However I know little of these realms. What can you tell me of this House Brax, It’s people and where it’s located? I shall have to travel there soon I fear.
“Uniqueness is a trait that must be treasured at all costs.” Arianna smiled. “As for the House of Brax. Ruled by the Demon King himself, King Brandon and his son Prince Joffery. I’ve heard tales that they’ve both taken Angels for wives, but I am uncertain if that is true as I have not left my home in many years. They are located in The Nightlands, which are more than 6 days by horseride from here. Take care when traveling, for there are very few villages between here and there.”
Lord Ash listened to the Lady’s words with rapt attention. He was glad for her sage advice.
She said… “Uniqueness is a trait that must be treasured at all costs.” Arianna smiled.
Taking her word to heart he said simply, Well we must be off then. I will take up no more of your time and I thank you for your help as well. Till we meet again. he did a courteous bow and then turned about with his guards following, snatching their weapons on the way out and leaving the grounds…
As they made their way down the road they walked a good few miles away. Then Lord Ash created a Portal.
I know of these Night Lands and House Brax. It was once called Blackfog castle if my memory serves. We shall be there tonight.
With that he led his small band into the portal, the rest of his army waiting in Bravvos at but a portals command away.
